For some reason in the last 1 week some of my AC21 updated pln files (these are legacy projects brought forward in many iterations of ARCHICAD) won't load. AC21 crashes after loading a library that I have warnings about being corrupted but have always .

The odd thing is that all the projects open successfully in AC21RC. I am able to save the projects as AC20, then open & resave as AC21 without any problem.

Anyone experience anything similar? Or have any idea what is happening?

AC21 Shadow Diagram display issue b/n View Map & Layout Book

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't know about any. If you find one, I think we would all be happy to hear about it.

What you can check, is if it is fine on PDFs after publishing those layouts (in that case it is just a "display issue" on layouts, but your published papers should be fine). Also, see if manually updating the drawing on the layout helps.

Book Setting error in ArchiCAD 21. Can not set revision

Hi all

I experienced this error on a teamwork file recently, using AC21, with the book setting dialogue box being massive and nothing appearing inside.

It was fixed when I saved the teamwork file out of the server onto my desktop as a PLN, then opening it via AC and ticking the box "Open & Repair selected file".

Then the book setting dialogue box worked again, and I re-shared it back onto the BIM server.

Had the same problem with a particular file which was migrated to 20, but is not teamwork.
Trying to close the window will crash Archicad.

Issue with the Dimensioning

Hey,

I have a very annoying problem. My dimensioning is crazy, but only the dimensions from door axis.

I tried to find the issue, first it happens all the time when i published dwg files through the publisher....

Now i have the problem that some layers will activate or deactivate themselves for no reason and i think as a result the dimensions will go anywhere.

Have anyone a solution for this, it is really annoying to set the dimensions 100 times new.

thanks

Crazy shadows in OpenGL window

This has been a recurrent problem since shadows have become a staple in the OpenGL window, and no one has ever explained to me why this is an issue.

Whenever I open the 3D window it's a bit of rolling the dice. If I open it with a marquee or not, there's a chance that the shadows become completely chaotic. If I change the marquee (or not use it at all), the situation changes and the shadows are presented correctly.

I haven't found a logic to this at all. Sometimes it works well when I use the marquee, sometimes it stops working well when I use it. Sometimes, it's how you draw the marquee. It cannot be an object, since many times it's only when I use the marquee that the problem occurs (and I'm not cutting objects in half when I do that, for instance).

I'd love to finally get some kind of feedback on this issue.

Note - the attached image shows chaotic shadows, but I just have to change the marquee a tad bit (or show the entire project in 3D) and the shadows are totally fine).

AC21 - updating drawing on layout

Hello everyone,

I am not sure the Fastlogger folder deleting thing is related to this, but we have a problem in ARCHICAD 21 that it will keep reverting drawings to "needs checking" status (even though nothing changed), so when you switch back it refreshes drawings. This should be fixed in the next update of ARCHICAD 21 (5002), which is already available as a preview version.

If someone has a a similar problem, this might be the solution to it!

AC21 - IFC property preview

alemanda,

It is not a bug, it's a limitation of the Selection Settings Dialog. Displaying the actual values here would require that this dialog would be aware of eg. how long the wall is, but since that value is not available here (only thickness and height), we decided we will be just displaying a kind of preview/placeholder for User Defined IFC values here, not the actual value. It will go out properly to lists and IFC files though.

What operating system are you running AC 16 on?

When you say 'old file' - what version was the file created with?

Hello all,

I looked into it, and it seems like this should be fixed in the next updates of ARCHICAD 20 (70xx) and ARCHICAD 21 (50xx) to some extent. They both should be released this month.

In this update we tried to fix some reasons that can make the layout books faulty, but there might still be some issues left. If after installing the updates you still run into the problem, please let us know, so we can look into what might have gone wrong.

An open & repair should indeed fix the problem anyhow (this is a fix for the already faulty state that we included in the current updates).

Thanks,

This fixed my issue. I've been trying to solve this for years and this was the problem. I scaled my polling rate from 1000 to 125 and it works as I would expect now.

Thanks!

TJI hanger problem.

Old topic - but we might be able to use these hangers again now because of the Revit RFA Import tool ? The ones shown in the picture are Cadimage

https://www2.strongtie.com/drawings/revit.asp

Lots of good Simpson stuff in .skp here too -- https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/user.html?id=0724210250130978363401773&nav=models

Why is it that there is no .gsm library for this stuff too ? Why does the whole world seem to think that the only thing BIM is Revit?

TIP: If a person is not modeling with 3D hangers, you might still want to use have one of these 3D hangers for use in your hanger schedules.

INFO BOX Problems!

I finally couldn't stand the lag in working with ArchiCAD, and started to test out what made it so slow. Most of the issue is the slow response in selecting, de-selecting (ESC key), which forces me to pause and wait for the selection / de-selection to finish prior to issuing the other commands.

I found that when I turn off the INFO BOX, everything is so much faster and instant. Every time I select a different element made from a different tool, the info box struggles to refresh, changing into the info box setting specific for that selection. I'd like to just turn it off, but as you know, the INFO BOX is so critical I'm not sure that's a viable solution.

One easy way to experiment, select a bunch of different objects, wait for it to get selected (turns blue), then hit the escape key once. Try this with the info box on and info box off.

I would like to know, is this behavior only for me? Do other users out there experience this slowness?

It might just be you.
I have instant selection and deselection no matter how many elements I try with.
No waiting at all.

Things I would try.
Make sure you have the latest Archicad update - 5010 has just been released.
Make sure you have the latest video card drivers.
Try using the 'Standard' Work Environment.
Close the 'Renovation' palette if it is open to see if that makes any difference.
Turn of any trace reference if you have one active.

Barry.

Thank you Barry for your feedback. I did a complete uninstall of everything ArchiCAD and reinstalled everything again, seems to be working normal now. Maybe I had too much leftover bits from past versions, etc.

Dennis.

Many different Archicads should not have been the problem.
I have 14 different versions/builds/national versions installed with no apparent issues.

Just reinstalling or updating that version should have fixed the problem I think.
But I am glad you have it working though.

Barry.
