really slow when zoomed in

i have a MBP 2009 running AC 19 which is performing quite well considering, but lately when i zoom right in for small detailed work it slows right down to the point where it will execute an action about once every 2 seconds and i will even get the beachball of doom. this is a bit counter intuitive to me, i would have thought that it would only be rendering a fraction of the info so it should actually perform better, but i obviously don't know what i'm talking about. it's not a particularly large file 15 Mb. is there something i can do to restore this or is it just the latest build finally just too much for my machine?

Not sure if it will help but try turning off the cut plane if it's on.

Has anyone else experienced the following issue? I can't seem to get a response from Graphisoft Support, even though I am an ArchiPLUS subscriber. I've had this happen on several project files. I'm running the latest Mac OS X (El Capitan v10.11.3)

There are times when I cut a building section, open it, and instead of it opening in a separate window like normal, it´ s opening up on the plan views (on whichever story I open). The cut view will actually be on the floor plan, for example. And if it's a section that has notes, dimensions, etc., those don't even show up on the section view.

I've tried the "repair" option on the file, and have even reinstalled ArchiCAD. Nothing seems to work.

I'm attaching a screen shot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The screenshot did not attach.
I would be interested in seeing it because this sound like a very strange problem.

Additionally, when I open the project file and use the "repair" feature, this is the resulting repair...

Are you sure that what you're seeing isn't a Trace Reference, with the color of reference set to 'original color'? The screenshot of your 2nd Floor shows that trace/reference is definitely active (the red slider 'grips' on all four sides).

Also, please add a Signature or mention your version of AC when you post. The screenshot with tabs tells us that you're on AC 19 ... but without the screenshot, I would have imagined you were in an older version that wasn't compatible with El Capitan. Wink

Sorry Karl...yes I am running the latest version of AC19. And definitely, it is not a trace reference. I have that turned on for another floor plan story.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the "repair" feature performed a repair and issued a subsequent System Report as noted. It references that "VBElements" on the Layout were deleted. I opened my Master title block layout templates. I noticed on two my master layouts that I had "missing" fonts, that I previously deleted from my computer. I changed those to a current font that resides in my system Font Book. I have opened the project file again, and so far (keeping fingers crossed) it seems to have resolved my issue.

The font scenario seems trivial, but perhaps that was the issue. Let me know if anyone thinks otherwise.

AC19: constant prompts to connect to file server

We had this issue in 18 and thought it had been resolved in a hotfix, but now it seems it has returned.

When working in a Teamwork file, users are getting prompts to connect to our file server every few minutes. If they are in the office, the dialog is pre-filled with one of the other users logins, if working remotely we get the spinning beachball for a minute or so, and then an alert that the server can not be found.

We've broken any active links to files or drawings on the server through the Drawing Manager.

There is one Hotlinked Module in the file, which is another Teamwork file.

This is killing our productivity. It is almost impossible to work remotely, every five minutes or so we get the spinning beachball for at least 60 seconds before it pops up a dialog saying it can't find the server.

We are on AC19 4013, Mac OS.
The file server it keeps trying to connect to is an SMB volume.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

This could be a damaged file. When a Section appears on a Floor Plan and when ARCHICAD is deleting stuff from the file in trying to repair it, then I would say there is something wrong with the file.
I would contact your local support with this issue. I don't think we could be of much help here in this matter.

Keyboard shortcuts problem

Hi I work with Archicad 19 and I have a problem with keyboard shortcuts which occurs when I forget to switch my keyboard Language to English.

So if I press Ctrl+Shift+D to drag a copy while the active language is "Greek" is not working.

Switching back to English Language keyboard shortcuts are not working and needs an Archicad restart to make it working again.

Do you really actually use two keyboard layouts? I means, switch to one in some programs, switch to the other in others?
I have a HUngarian keyboard on my laptop so after a while I figured: why do I have an English keyboard layout installed when my keyboard is Hungarian? It just adds confusion. The only reason it was there (the English) is because I have an English version of Windows and it installs it by default. So I just uninstalled the English, left the Hungarian and there is no issues coming from keyboard layout switching.
Something to consider if this matches your situation.

Hi, yes I have two languages installed because the most of my programs work in English and I have to write in Greek also.

For example in Archicad I use english for the kyeboard shortcuts but when I work on a project the text of the project notes has to be in Greek language.

Nevertheless I believe that this shouldn't affect Archicad's shortcuts.

ArchiCAD 19 getting stuck while switching tabs

HI, I am facing a really irritating amount of delay while switching between tabs on ArchiCAD 19 (4006 INT)even when I have made no changes to the file. The project is not very complex but still it is making working very difficult. I faced no problems like this with ArchiCAD 18. I have tried disabling background updates options as well to no avail. I suspected morphs to be the cause of the problem, but i have the same issues in new clean files with no morphs. Sometimes it gets stuck so bad I have to shut it from the task manager and restart ArchiCAD. Can anyone please help. thanks

Massive Problem with Autosave - lost days of work!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure what happened, but on Friday and today I worked on a project, and just a half hour ago my computer said it's hard drive was full and archicad closed. I opened it up and I can't explain why the drive was full because after a reboot it showed 8 gigs free. Restarting archicad however threw up another error saying there wasn't enough space to run archicad on the current drive ( 8gigs free) and shut down. Well that cleaned the autosave folder and now I'm in DEEP S**T!!!!

This has happened to me before in different way with archicad and I think it would be very prudent if archicad wasn't so willing to delete or overwrite the previous autosaves. Maybe something like a rolling log but how it is now, this can't stay this way.

If anyone has any suggestions at all what I might do, please help, I'm serioulsy in deep trouble right now.

If you have had the job open since Friday and have not manually saved it yourself then you really have no-one to blame but yourself.

Don't rely on auto-save.
Save every couple of hours or when you have done something important that you don't want to re-do.
And if it is just a design process that you are not sure that you want to keep then save-as with a new name and save-as with the real name when you are happy with the design.

If your disc was reporting that it was full then maybe that is why Archicad could not save the auto-save files.
I have no real idea why this would be the case that your disc was full but maybe it has to do that you have left your machine running for a long time without shutting your applications off.

Barry.
